Samuel the Comet goes romantic with new single for Valentine’s Day
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Although his musical catalogue consists of mostly conscious and positive messages, reggae artiste Samuel the Comet is taking his message to the ladies this Valentine’s Day, with the release of his latest single Don’t Let Go.
The US-based Guyanese singer says Don’t Let Go is an anthem for lovers. It will be released via Ready Now Entertainment.
“2025 is going to be an amazing year and I am excited to release some new material that will connect with listeners. Therefore, I am starting off the year right this Valentine’s Day with the release of the song Don’t Let Go, which I believe will resonate with people who believe that true love still exists,” he shared with Observer Online on Wednesday.
People from around the world celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14. It is the day of the year when lovers celebrate their love. Valentine’s Day is believed to be named for the martyred Christian saint named Valentine.
Samuel the Comet believes that people who are in love, should not wait until Valentine’s Day to show their affection to each other.
“This is something that should be celebrated all year round. If you love someone, don’t wait until one time in the year to show them how much you appreciate and care for them,” he reasoned.
Although Shanto and Calypso music are among the musical art forms celebrated in Guyana, Samuel the Comet’s love for reggae music developed at an early age.
“I have a brethren, his name is Zion, and as a youth every time I go to his home to hold a vibes, he used to be playing Bob Marley, Burning Spear, and people like Dennis Brown. I used to listen to all of them, and then later in my teenage years, I came across Culture’s album (Wings of a Dove), and the songs were speaking to my reality. That is when I said, ‘roots reggae music is my favourite of all genres’,” he said.
Samuel the Comet said he plans to continue producing music that will have a lasting impact on the world.
“The vision for my label and for my music career is to touch the lives of people all over the world with positive, uplifting music. That way we can practice patience and tolerance, and choose love over the distraction of our emotions,” he said.
Samuel the Comet added, “I want to unite the world with my music and that is why I only record songs that carry positive messages. I am fully aware that as an artiste it is my duty to uplift, inspire, and unite the masses with the music that the Most High has blessed me to create. I pray that, as I continue on this journey, I will never forget my mission,” he said.
Born in Linden, Guyana, Samuel the Comet has been recording music professionally since 2008.
