Digicel Business rolls out hurricane preparedness drive
WITH the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season officially under way, Digicel Business plans to take its message of preparedness and resilience into the heart of Jamaican communities.
Beginning on July 18 in St Catherine and continuing through locations in St James, Trelawny, and Manchester, Digicel Business will meet Jamaicans face-to-face.
Through pop-up activations and direct engagements, local business owners will receive expert advice, product demonstrations, and tailored consultations on protecting their operations during the hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to November 30 each year.
“At Digicel Business, we know that resilience doesn’t start when the rain begins — it starts now — in planning, education, and connection,” a company news release quotes General Manager Tashima Walker.
“That’s why we’re going into the communities, to meet business owners where they are, to understand their concerns, and to help build solutions that fit their realities. We’re not just selling services — we’re standing beside our customers when it matters most,” added Walker.
She said the outreach is part of Digicel Business’s wider campaign, ‘Empowering Businesses, Securing Growth’, which encourages Jamaican enterprises to take full advantage of cloud-based services and the tier 3-certified data centre.
These tools offer seamless business continuity, keeping operations online and data protected despite hurricanes, power outages, and other disruptions, the company explianed.
A key part of this initiative is the upcoming Disaster Readiness Webinar, ‘Don’t Just Survive the Storm – Thrive Through It’, scheduled for June 11.
The session will provide small and medium-sized businesses with critical insights into the risks of on-premise data loss and the benefits of moving to the cloud. It will also feature expert guidance on confidently navigating the season using Digicel’s secure and scalable infrastructure.
To further support businesses during this high-risk period, Digicel Business is offering an exclusive 25 per cent discount on selected services for three months, available to those who sign up during the hurricane season.
“We know that a storm can undo years of hard work in a single day,” said Digicel Jamaica CEO Stephen Murad. “That’s why we’ve built systems that can withstand the pressure, and teams ready to respond. From our tier 3 data centre to our cloud backup and cybersecurity solutions, everything we offer is designed to keep businesses running no matter the forecast.”
Preparedness is also being applied within Digicel Business itself as the company has implemented flexible work arrangements, emergency protocols, and additional training to ensure its team members remain supported and fully equipped to serve customers, regardless of the circumstances.
“Preparedness is peace of mind,” added Walker. “It’s the difference between bouncing back and breaking down. And wherever you are in Jamaica, Digicel Business is ready to help you through it.”
