The days are evil
Dear Editor,
The events of recent days have made me truly reflective. These are the Air India crash, Israel-Iran crisis, and the squall line that passed over Jamaica.
Coming out of the Air India disaster, there are two notable individuals: one who walked away — the lone survivor — and a young lady who missed the ill-fated flight. Different stories, but perfect endings: They are alive.
The Middle East situation brings home forcefully how this minute it’s peace and safety, then suddenly destruction and loss abounds. Juxtapose that with the cold front that came through Jamaica. It was a perfectly peaceful day that suddenly turned frighteningly chaotic with devastating winds.
In all of this I am reminded of the scripture Ephesians 15:5-6, “See that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (KJV)
Let us, therefore, be focused in our daily pursuits, serve the Lord, and use our time wisely. The times are fleeting.
