The secret life of the lying, cheating married man

The sticky cheating drama involving a popular YouTube couple and the woman who emerged from the shadows to share steamy details of an affair with the husband had us all hooked last week, as we varied between whether it was all a prank for views or just another story involving a married man who just couldn't remain committed to his wife. The young woman went live several times to share details of the pursuit, the relationship, and why she entered it, in what is a story as old as time — when faced with financial and other challenges, women become prime bait for married predators.

What has been your experience navigating the advances of the married man, defined by some as that species which — for some unexplained reason — has the tenacity to prey on single women?

Fiona, 25:

I was literally stalked by one at work who just couldn't take no for an answer. He was also my immediate supervisor so the badwords I wanted to tell him, I couldn't. It eventually reached HR when he just wouldn't stop, and when he exposed himself to me after he called me to his desk like he wanted to talk about work. I thought he was nasty and dirty, because right there with the picture of his wife and kids at his desk he was telling me how good he would make me feel.

Renae, 27:

I have one at work who, by the way, has already been linked to several women at our company — so I already had the rundown before he started focusing on me. His wife is such a lovely lady too, and this man goes to church! But in the office he's like an octopus, and it's not even like he's the cute type who you'd consider as a sugar daddy. He's just creepy.

Anika, 30:

I wondered one time whether there was something wrong with me, why I only seemed to attract married men. They are so brazen with it too, and so lie. They lie about who their wives are, lie about being separated... always lie. I've come to realise over the years that it's probably a sickness they get once they put their rings on.

Jevene, 32:

I had this man tell me that he was sleeping in a separate room from his wife, and was only staying at home for the kids, and I believed him. I was young, I guess, so I didn't know that this is the story they always use. Once he got what he wanted he started acting shady, and it was when I talked to more people that I was told the truth.

Faith, 30:

They're the scum of the earth for cheating on their wives, but when the poop hits the fan they will lie and gaslight you and become narcissists until you'll be left wondering if you are the problem.
