TATLER: Summer happenings
Visitors are certainly in the city. Traffic is heavy and there’s activity aplenty. The Circus is in town and the lights as one drives on Oxford Road heading towards New Kingston seem magnetic. Then there’s the new golf club which has certainly added some greenery to what was such a parched area.
Activities are certainly here for those not travelling this summer.
Birthdays are weekly and finance man Donovan Perkins turned 40 and he pulled out the happening set who hopefully will not become as jaded as the current set.
Congratulations to Kevin Hendrickson who was voted Hotelier of the Year at last week’s JHTA banquet.
The Hilton New Kingston was the venue last week Monday of the official launch of Supreme Ventures. With the big guns jetting in to lend support to their local partners it certainly was not the typical hyped up affair but rather a show of solidarity.
Ann Marie Wysse of Every Blooming Thing created high stakes magic in the ballroom as she unrolled a red carpet type entrance with private sitting areas on either side. Tropical foliage was used to temper the area and tall cocktail stand areas allowed guests somewhere to place their glasses and check their bets. Stunning ushers clad in red floated around the room explaining the various games. But of even more significance was the presence of the president and other principals at the entrance to acknowledge the arrival of invited guests.
Over at that chic eatery at Harmony Hall where the jet setters twirl pasta, a hand written letter from 24 Sussex arrived. Aline Chretien just felt it necessary to write to express just how great a meal and time she had had here with her PM hubby.
Plans are afoot for the arrival of Kate Moss and steady beau Jefferson Hack. Hack is the group editorial director of the much acclaimed British magazine Dazed & Confused. Keith Richards is expected in August and there’s always Paul. Problem is Ralph no longer rents his villa since he had it done over.
Stella his daughter is no longer with Chloe.
And the buzz in the second city is increasing daily, what with the suave Josef Forstmayr as the new head of the JHTA. The Saachi crew getting ready for their end of summer extravaganza and the wedding of the millenium set for the holiday weekend.
Meanwhile in misery land, the matron of honour and saviour of many a Russian Platinum queen called to advise that the reformed one and his wife are very happy and how cruel we all are… Over lunch however, the talk was how to find several, clean them up, and put them on the Internet. How absolutely enterprising!
