International Women’s Day:

INTERNATIONAL Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8 each year, giving people worldwide the chance to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women. It inspires women around the world to achieve their full potential while celebrating the achievements of women past, present and future.
It’s the chance many use to recognise the special and hardworking women in their lives – the mothers, wives, sisters and best friends who make an impact.
In observance, this week all woman asked:
What do you like most about being a woman?
I don’t have any kids of my own but I officially became a godmother recently and the sheer joy that my little godson brings me makes me realise just how delightful and amazing children are… as a woman I relish every opportunity to nurture and treasure them.
-Syretha Barr, godmother
What I enjoy about being a woman: The potency and peace of being comfortable with yourself, understanding your gifts and strengths and accepting your weaknesses. I enjoy celebrating the gifts, beauty and talents of other women. There is a haven found only in sisterhood with other women who are secure and comfortable with themselves.
The synergy of that kind of relationship brings me great satisfaction within the personal and professional spheres as I have seen there is nothing that a team of confident, competent women can’t achieve. I’m also thankful to be counted a friend to Marie Chin, Opal Bailey, Tashai Douglas, Trudy Deans, Nicole Heslop, Natia Abramia, Jean Hyesook, Rene Thorpe – women whose perspective, lives and honesty keep me grounded throughout the many phases of life.
