I’d love to date …
THERE’S a certain je ne sais quois about a man in power, a certain something that makes him outshine the rest of the mere mortals, that makes him irresistible to the swooning females he leaves in his wake.
In fact studies have shown that women are innately wired to gravitate towards powerful men – it’s that need we have to be protected, to be taken care of and who better to do it than a man who seems to have it all together?
Well over the last two weeks we’ve asked for your top picks and boy did you respond! Those like business mogul Michael Lee Chin were sure hits, while some interesting ones made the cut.
So does a certain Jamaican man give you the shivers? Do you watch that certain someone on TV, wishing you could date him, bear his child, or just have him alone for an evening? Does a certain doctor/lawyer/journalist or other professional make you sit back and thank the heavens for the species called man? Here are your picks in no particular order.
Hmmmm…

… and thanks for asking!

Who would I give anything to spend an evening with? Senator Delano Franklyn. Why? I hear he’s got a brain to die for and I’d like to find out if its true.

Who would I want to date? Ooh! I am glad you asked! Fantastic! I would love to date, marry, and have four children with Dr Bobby Chen from SuperPlus in Mandeville. I think he is absolutely yummy! I’ve had a secret crush on him for many years. I dream about him, I think about him I fantasise about waking up next to him. I dream of smelling him. I go stupid when he smiles at me.
I get soft and tender when I see him around the town. He doesn’t even know I am alive, that is what is so sad. He probably wouldn’t date someone like me. But I still dream of having his children. I love the way he walks, I love the way he talks. I love how nice he is to people. I love the colour of his eyes.
Ok, you can tell by now, that I am absolutely freakin’ crazy about this man who doesn’t even know that I am alive. I think about asking him on a date every time I see him. I just fumble and turn into a complete idiot when I see him. Just to watch him drive through the town on those very rare occasions makes me happy all day long. Seeing him is better than my favourite food, special pair of shoes or my favourite underwear or perfume.
On a day like today I would throw everything away just to go on a date with him. He is the man of my dreams. He is so yummy and unreachable, completely out of my league. I just sit and only wish that I could be his girlfriend. Just to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon in Little Ochi would be a dream come true for me. I am so shy but if “forced”, I would love to spend an afternoon with him.

I live in the United States, but when I turn that computer on in the mornings, he takes whatever burden that I have and make we want to get up to go to work. He is a blessing.

Ahhh, fantasy. As little girls we feast on an unbalanced diet of Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, building our expectations not just for a mate but also a soul mate. Orville Richard ‘Shaggy’ Burrell is the Jamaican man in power (within the entertainment industry) who gives me the shivers. Okay, there I said it for the entire world to know. It took me a while to admit it, even to my family and friends. This brother is so breathtakingly fine. I almost fell out of my chair when I first heard Wild Tonight.
Shaggy comes close to perfect. Most men these days are obviously not my type – too young, too horny, or bad grammar – Shaggy certainly seems like my kind of man because he is charismatic, classy, witty, romantic, and oh, so handsome. A long vacation or an evening with this amazing man sitting across from me and a sip of wine is all any woman can ask for.

Editor’s note: To LW below, it would have been nice to know who he is, so we could all bask in the glory!
I am a nurse working at a doctor’s office in Kingston, to be honest I am married with children. The doctor I work with is someone to admire. He wears nice clothes, matching tie and shoes, he has a brilliant smile with bright eyes. He is a very jovial person, easy to get along with. One day he wore a casual shirt that exposed the hair on his chest and when I saw him I was wowed. That day I made several trips into his office just to look at his hairy chest. About two months passed and I could not keep it quiet, so I told him as a joke but in my heart I knew that I had a crush on this man.
I would do anything to have a date with him.

Romantic movies
For some die hard romantics it’s Casablanca, others were touched by Titanic, and there are even some who found solace in Forest Gump. Many a woman has been proposed to after a particularly poignant scene and many a romance has blossomed under the blue glare of the cinema lights.
