Lessons I learned from sleeping with my co-worker
LOVE has no bounds and we have no control over when Cupid will strike, but there are certain times when we have to ignore that arrow sticking us or pull it out, dress the wound, and walk away.
One such time is when the pending love story is with co-worker, as the people below share. While such unions exist, survive and manage to remain civil, there are some that are akin to volcanoes waiting to erupt and may cost you your job and more pain than satisfaction.
Alvin M:
My lesson was a tough one. She seemed quiet and all but she just used me to her advantage. We would hook up on many occasions and I’d exchange the favour for money. When she got enough she just told people that I paid her to go out with her and how much I was a man clown.
Dianne G:
Well I didn’t sleep with the co-worker, but I became too close with him, so the rumours were there. What I found out was that people won’t believe that nothing happened and they will lose respect for you. Also, every time I tried to be promoted, it was denied.
Mariamme V:
You become the forbidden one and people disrespect you without you even asking for it. Don’t for a second believe it remains between you and the individual even if the company is a large one.
Arianna H:
Social media can be the devil. Don’t take pictures after the act and simply, don’t sleep with your co-worker. You can’t exist in the same space afterwards and when the break-up comes, Christ, you won’t be able to function in the building or on the same compound with all those stares and fingers pointing at you.
Harold A:
That even if she says she keeps it to herself, her friends at work will know and they will spread it, especially if you do something freaky.
Errol B:
That my ratings went up instead of down when she told people. She thought I would be ridiculed, but instead I gained popularity.
Sean T:
It wasn’t a happy ending. Her husband visited our workplace and created a scene and I ended up with a black eye.
Karen Y:
That it ends miserably. I had to resign from my job as a brawl took place, my employers weren’t pleased, and the judgement was that if I hadn’t made myself available knowing I wasn’t single things wouldn’t have ended up the way they did.
