Making exercise fun
JUST the thought of getting up to do squats or lunges can be hard and tiresome for some people. This reluctance stymies the aims of many to get themselves into shape. The key to fixing this is to make workouts interesting. There are more ways to spice up exercise besides listening to music while jogging or waist training. A workout does not have to be boring or too difficult. Below are fun alternatives to achieve your fitness goals from fitness guru, Rohan Gordon.
1. Playing frisbeeDo you remember watching movies and seeing people throwing that plastic disc for the dog to fetch? You can grab one too and have fun with family and friends. Due to the nature of this game, you can get the same benefits as if you were running on the road near your house. You can burn up to 600 calories while playing frisbee, and because it so much fun you will play for long spells and burn a lot more.
2. Hula hoopHave a hula-hoop competition with your friends for about an hour, and burn up to 650 calories. It works your arms, legs and abdominals. Hula hooping gives you the same results as aerobics.
3. Dance aerobicsTurn the volume up on your favourite upbeat playlist and do some dance aerobics. In the end you would achieve the same goals as with the use of an elliptical machine, without remembering that it was an actual workout.
4. Rowing or raftingRow or raft with company for about 45 minutes to an hour. You will be too focused on friendly conversation and having fun to think about it as exercise. This activity allows you to burn up to 700 calories, the same that you would from swimming.
5. HikingJamaica has a hilly terrain suitable for hiking. The constant arm and leg movement involved in hiking can make you burn up to 600 calories as you would while doing waist training workouts.
6. SkippingDig into your childhood memories, grab a skipping rope and jump to ‘1, 2, 3, auntie Lou Lou’, or see who can skip to 100 without stopping. Skipping for 30-45 minutes can burn 400 calories. This is roughly the same amount you would burn if you were walking briskly.
