“Men don’t do anything for free…”
“Men don’t do anything for free”. These are the words of comedian Steve Harvey, who on his talk show a few years ago cautioned women about expecting gifts from men under the guise of friendship.
“We’re your friend for one reason and one reason only,” he said. “What we do is hang around the perimeter, circling, waiting for a crack in the door…”
It’s an experience that several women have had, and they share below the moment they realised that nothing in life is free.
Trudy:
So far no man I know has challenged this notion as all of them remain the same – thirsty for sex. I recently had to cut a friend off because he was crossing the line. He would assist me from time to time to make my rent as I was without a job for several months, and he recently told me how much he wants me and asked when was I going to give him a shot because he has been investing in me. Lesson well learnt!
BC:
When I was a teen, my stepfather would help my sister and I with school expenses. One night he sneaked into my room and asked me if I wanted him to stop providing for us, and of course I said no. He told me that nothing was free, and tried to molest me.
Domonique:
No man will just help a woman not wanting something even if it started out as friends and was innocent. Sooner or later, it is going to take a turn and that man is going to want repayment – and not in cash.
Pat:
I am not that naïve to think a man will give me his money and not want sex because I learnt from a young age that nothing is free. So when a man helps me out, I am expecting him to ask for sex.
