VOWS – An Officer & His Bride

VOWS – An Officer & His Bride

There was nothing extraordinary about their initial encounter, or so it appeared. Cupid’s arrow, however, was hovering when United States Navy naval aviator Jeffery McNair met Thrivairs International CEO Natasha Miller at Florida State University in 2010. Their friendship blossomed into love and the rest, as they say, is history. Eight years later they made it official, feting with family and friends in a joyous jubilation. Vows details the epic wedding celebration.

The proposal, as told by Natasha…

Jeffery proposed to me five years to the date of our first trip together to Disneyland’s Tomorrowland theme park in Anaheim, California. It was Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2016, and his cousin surprised us with tickets to accompany him and his girlfriend to Disneyland. We had so much fun on the rides, and eating carnival fare. We “accidentally” got separated from Jeffery’s cousin and his girlfriend and so decided to do our own thing. Little did I know, the “separation” was a part of the master plan for the proposal. We settled into the perfect spot to watch the parade when Jeffery said his cousin sent him a text to meet up at Tomorrowland. I was reluctant to move because the parade was about to start and Princess Tiana was the main act – come on! We had front-row seats to see Princess Tiana! But Jeffery was adamant, so I obliged. We ran through a crowd of spectators to get to Tomorrowland before it was closed off.

As soon as we got to the entrance Jeffery started fumbling with the pockets of his jacket. I proceeded to assist… next thing I knew, he’s down on one knee asking me to marry him. OMG! I’m not going to lie, I was in shock, everything was a blur, and I couldn’t stop crying. My best friend just asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. How awesome was that? Of course, I said yes!

His cousin and girlfriend as luck would have it, were our camera crew so we have an engagement video to ensure the memories of the proposal will never be forgotten.

I now pronounce you…

On Saturday, June 2 on the cliffside overlooking the Caribbean Sea at Borghinvilla, Discovery Bay, Jeffery and Natasha said their I do’s. The theme was timeless romance; a creation of the Borghinvilla design team. The start of the proceedings was signalled by the arrival of the groom who, accompanied by his mother Faydra McNair and looking sharp in his US Navy officer uniform took his position at the altar. His father and best man Jeffrey McNair and the groomsmen followed in black tuxedos. The bridesmaids, dressed in gold off-the-shoulder evening gowns, made their entrance to Leona Lewis’s A Moment Like This. The bride, escorted by her parents Noel and Rita Miller, stunned in an Allure vintage-inspired lace and beadwork gown from Alegria’s Brides in Miami complete with a royal-length custom veil from Your Heirloom Veil.

The ceremony was officiated by Pastor Damion Austin.

The reception…

…was held on the cliffside at Borghinvilla. It was as exciting a time for the newly-weds as it was for their guests. The area was decorated with shades of garnet/marsala, gold and black. Tables were draped in black linen and adorned with gorgeous marsala roses, carnations and gold candelebras. Hanging pearls reminiscent of the 1920s flapper era finished the look. The wedding party made their entrance to Bring Em Out by TI. The evening continued with the unveiling of the two-tiered fruitcake by Joy of Foods and a hearty reception dinner catered by Borghinvilla’s Chef Francis. The bride and groom shared their first dance to Ed Sheeran’s Perfect Duet featuring Beyoncé. Following this, guests were entertained with a fire-dancing show and the release of lanterns.

The honeymoon

The couple honeymooned in Hawaii.
