Designers Take On Designers Take On
The children of Island Child Style are back! On Saturday, November 24, the kids made themselves, their parents and fashion enthusiasts proud as they represented for local kiddie couture at another exquisite showcase of Jamaican designers at the Island Child Style fashion show held at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel.
Flowerchild1999 designer Kaysian Bourke revealed her Bad 2 The Bone-titled collection to much applause and parental approval. There were floral prints on silk skirts and linen pieces with tassels at the hem. Even the boys had a fashion moment rocking T-shirts designed by Bourke’s daughter Jazzmine — her first foray into design.
Alveta Knight’s Ajya Rainwear collection of brightly coloured raincoats and slickers did not disappoint, either. Knight revamped the poncho, releasing a line of colourful outerwear — some transparent, some in print — with lots of pizzazz.
Ayanna Dixon’s ASD collection of hand-painted shifts with 3-D designs left a lasting impression — all the models wore masks their way of highlighting domestic abuse against children. Faces of young girls were brought to life with three-dimension baubles and beading. Kinda made you feel like a kid again!
