Making waves with ClitsNakedSwim
With such a provocative name, it was bound to raise eyebrows.
But for 23 year-old Solena Hamilton, designer and conceptualiser of ClitsNakedSwim, an exclusive swimwear and costume line, it’s all in the name.
After going viral on social media in 2016 with a risqué self-designed ensemble, Hamilton decided to use that opportunity as her big break and she hasn’t looked back since.
She stands firmly behind her company name, as she believes it embodies women’s empowerment and encourages them to embrace their physicality.
“I wanted a name that screamed feminine, something socially provocative,” Hamilton told All Woman Fashion (AWF). “I also wanted to touch on the whole basis of people being uncomfortable with even just saying the word.”
The designer is currently pursuing a law degree at The University of the West Indies, and has had to learn to strike a balance between academics and entrepreneurship. Through her perseverance and determination, ClitsNakedSwim now has celebrity status across campus.
Now she is expanding her brand to include three new collections: Queen of the Amazon, Spoiled Brat and Summer Flower, all of which are set to launch this summer. The collections will feature customisable swimwear, costumes and everyday apparel. ClitsNakedSwim hopes that these collections will help to bring clients comfort, even in their most vulnerable states.
