Goals, girl – Accountability tips for getting ahead
WE’RE just past the halfway point of the year, a natural pause between where you’ve been and where you’re going. Whether you started the year with bold intentions or just tried to stay afloat, this is your moment to check in.
Why is checking in important?
“Without reflection, goals become noise,” said life coach Beth-Ann Falconer. “Without realignment, even the most motivated woman can drift off course. Life moves fast — careers shift, family needs change, and unexpected setbacks or opportunities show up. A mid-year check-in isn’t about guilt or pressure; it’s about powerful clarity.”
Falconer said checking in helps you measure real progress, course-correct what’s no longer serving you, reignite your commitment with fresh energy, and stay grounded in your purpose.
“This isn’t just planning. It’s a reclamation of your time, your choices, and your vision for the rest of the year,” she said.
For this week’s check-in, we ask, how far along are you on your goals plan?
Here are some accountability pointers:
1)Did you set clear goals in January? If not, now is a great time to define what success looks like for the rest of the year.
2) What goals have you accomplished so far? Acknowledge wins, big or small.
3) Where have you fallen short? Why? Be honest without self-judgement. Identify barriers: time, energy, fear, or unclear planning.
4) Are your goals still relevant? Goals can evolve. It’s okay to pivot if something no longer serves your values or vision.
5) What habits have supported — or sabotaged —your progress? Your daily routine reveals your priorities.
Falconer offers these tips going forward:
1) Keep your goals visible. Use a journal, digital planner, or sticky notes on your mirror.
2) Break goals into bite-size tasks. Micro-steps help you avoid overwhelming yourself and track steady progress.
3) Partner with an accountability buddy. Check in weekly with a friend or mentor who holds you to your word.
4) Reflect on what worked, what didn’t, and what to adjust.
5) Celebrate milestones. Don’t wait for the finish line. Reward yourself when you hit key steps.
6) Get a coach (if needed). Especially for business, fitness, or personal development—accountability is part of their job.
7)Recommit with intention. Say it out loud. Affirm your why. Realign your identity with your goals.
