‘Breaking Through’ conference sparks crucial conversations about menopause, workplace productivity
AS conversations around menopause and midlife wellness gain momentum, the ‘Breaking Through: Redefining 40 and Beyond’ conference is set to take place on November 15, aiming to empower women and men in midlife.
The conference will provide essential education, support, and a platform for open discussions about the challenges and opportunities that this life stage presents.
It’s an extension of the successful ‘Menopause Mondays’ webinar series, launched in May 2024 by Nicky Clarke, life coach, and Natalie Murray, health coach and director of The Life Store.
Recognising a gap in resources and support for individuals navigating perimenopause, menopause, and midlife transitions, Clarke and Murray sought to break the silence surrounding these topics. The overwhelming response to their webinars spurred them to create a live, in-person event to reach a wider audience and foster deeper connections.
“With increasing numbers of women and men in their 40s and beyond remaining active in the workforce, addressing the impact of midlife health on productivity is crucial,” the organisers said.
“Symptoms of perimenopause and menopause, such as hot flashes, sleep disturbances, and mood changes, can significantly affect concentration, energy levels, and overall job performance.”
‘Breaking Through…’ will provide practical strategies for managing these symptoms, fostering a supportive work environment, and promoting overall well-being.
Expert speakers will come from a diverse panel, including Dr Mark Hoosang, speaking on ‘The heart of menopause’; Dr Charles Rockhead, speaking on ‘Hormone replacement therapy’, and Sonia Wynter, discussing ‘Menopause as a turning point for relationships’. Participants will leave with practical tools and techniques for managing midlife health challenges, improving relationships, and enhancing overall well-being.
“The conference is designed for women aged 40+ (and the men who love them) who are seeking guidance on perimenopause, menopause, and midlife wellness,” the organisers said. “It is also relevant for health-conscious professionals, business owners, decision-makers, and spouses/partners who want to better understand this stage of life.”
