Shericka Jackson confident of Budapest sprint double
BUDAPEST, Hungary – Two-time national women’s sprint double champion, Shericka Jackson has given clear indication that she has her sights set on winning the double at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
Jackson, who was speaking at a JAAA/Puma press conference in Budapest on Thursday, told OBSERVER ONLINE that the odds of her winning the double this Championship are good.
“It’s definitely possible. Once I put together everything that I’ve been doing in training, then anything is possible,” she said.
When asked if she was aiming for any time targets, again the response was positive.
“I have written down targets. I definitely am always writing what I want to achieve. That is something I’ve always been doing, even when I was running 400m.”
While Jackson will start favourite to retain her 200m title, she faces a tough 100m field that will include five-time winner and teammate Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Marie-Josee Ta Lou from the Ivory Coast as well as American champion Sha’Carri Richardson.
