Gore, Roper for Sim Racing World Cup
Kayle-Vaden Roper and Tommi Gore will compete for Jamaica in the online Sim Racing World Cup 2022 Continental Qualifiers scheduled for July 27 to 29.
The two sim racers were selected by the Jamaica Simulator Racing Association (JSRA) after their performance in the National Qualifiers on July 9.
The news was announced by Stephen Stewart, president of JSRA, on July 16 at the Sim Racing World Cup 2022 National Qualifiers award ceremony held at the Porsche Jamaica showroom in New Kingston.
“We held the awards ceremony to recognise the efforts of everyone involved in the National Qualifiers as sponsored by Amsoil. It wasn’t an easy decision due to the quality of all that competed, but the JSRA is satisfied that we are putting forward the two best drivers to represent Jamaica in the second stage of the competition,” Stewart told the Jamaica Observer‘s weekly Auto magazine.
Gore and Roper will now race against 14 other drivers in the Americas group for two spots of the 10 assigned for the Grand Final in Monaco in October. Despite two entries, only the fastest of the two Jamaican drivers would be eligible to advance at which point they will be flown to Monaco to race face-to-face with the winners from the other groups.
Stewart explained that part of the staging of the ceremony at Porsche Centre Kingston was access to the sim racing rig at the facility. He used the moment to unveil the circuit to be used in the upcoming competition and allowed a few early laps using the Porsche equipment.
