Exchange granted

Dear Claudienne,

I have been experiencing problems with a Whirlpool refrigerator I bought at the Ocho Rios branch of Courts Jamaica Limited in January 2022, on hire purchase terms. The refrigerator has been forming ice in the freezer and leaking water, and this has resulted in me losing thousands of dollars in foodstuffs.

I reported the problem to Courts and on two occasions they sent a maintenance team to my house to fix the problem — however, the refrigerator continues to malfunction. I have called Courts several times and asked them to take back the refrigerator but they said that on their system there are no reports of my calls and request for the refrigerator to be removed from my house.

I would appreciate your help.

DM

Dear DM,

Tell Claudienne has been in communication with Courts and was informed on September 10, 2023 that "an exchange was granted". On Wednesday you told the column that Courts had agreed to deliver to your house, over this weekend, a Mabe refrigerator as a replacement.

We wish you all the best.
