General Elections: Buchanan flips Portland Eastern for PNP

PORTLAND, Jamaica — The People’s National Party’s (PNP) Isat Buchanan has won the Portland Eastern seat in the 2025 General Election, based on preliminary results.

Buchanan tallied 8,316 votes while the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Ann-Marie Vaz secured 8,181 of the votes.  Tracy-Ann Gillespie-Harris of the Jamaica Progressive Party secured 29 votes.

In a 2019 by-election, Vaz polled 9,917 votes to defeat the PNP’s Damion Crawford by 306 votes to take over the seat which the PNP has held for the past 30 years.
