Long line of voters at Negril community centre

WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — Voters at the Negril Community Centre in Negril which is a polling division in the Westmoreland Western Constituency are complaining about the length of time they have to wait to cast their vote.

They are currently standing under trees in the sun.

One man who is a resident of Negril, Kenneth Telwell told the Observer Online shortly before 11:00 am that he has been waiting in the line for the past hour and a half.

“I have been here for about almost an hour and a half now or more. Other people are here also. The system is too slow. You know, the system is very slow. So, I would not mind if they could speed it up so that some people can vote to go to work.

“I came here and saw some people here. The line is not moving fast.
It’s in alphabetical order. So, it depends on your name or things like that.

Despite the delay, Telwell assured that he would remain and cast his vote.

“I have to vote. It’s my right. So, you know, I’m gonna lose a dollar or so, but I have to vote,” stated Telwell.
