Santana sings for the children
Singer Paulette Santana is concerned about rampant sexual abuse against children in Jamaica.
Those concerns play out in her latest single, Dead in Deh, which is produced by Bruce Shand for 1Family Music Inc.
“The song came about based on what I saw happening in my country as it relates to the amount of reported incidents of child abuse,” said Santana.
To emphasise her message, a video has been released to help promote the song.
Santana hails from the community of Resource in south Manchester. The 24-year-old was not bitten by the music bug until last year, having worked in other fields.
“I was encouraged to try modeling because of my height. But hairdressing is what I do professionally. It was just last year that I decided to get into music,” she explained.
She made her recording debut with the single, Your Majesty, which was also produced by 1Family Music Inc.
Santana plans to release the follow-up singles, Undercover and Not Over You, during the summer.
