Dream Weekend decision on June 15Wednesday, May 20, 2020
THE organisers of Dream Weekend, the annual series of parties held in the resort town of Negril located on Jamaica's western tip, are still to take a decision regarding this year's staging of the popular event.
In a statement released yesterday, the Dream Weekend team noted that based on the fact that the Government has ceased issuing any event permits, and the fact that the country's borders remain closed, no definitive decision can be taken at this time.
However, the party promoters have set June 15 as their final date to make a decision regarding the 2020 edition, which has become a standard on the annual entertainment calendar.
“Based on where we are in the year, we remain optimistic of a 2020 staging. That said, we recognise the need for patrons to plan ahead for travel and accommodation...It is primarily for this reason [that] we have set a deadline for no later than June 15, 2020 to make a final decision on whether [or not] to proceed on August 5-9, 2020, or postpone Dream Weekend to a later date,” the statement read.
The organisers are further asking their patrons to remain patient and give them the time stated to have critical conversations with concerned parties, including government regulators, in order to make the right decision.
