I-Wayne satisfies fans
Roots singer I-Wayne was in top form at last Friday’s staging of ‘Bunny’s Live Band Fridays’.
The enigmatic artiste ran unchecked through a cadre of hit songs, which included his breakthrough Billboard-charting single Can’t Satisfy Her, Book of Life, and Life Seeds.
Co-promoter of the monthly series Sean Francis was in high spirits about the turnout and overall execution.
“It was a nice, relaxed intimate reggae music experience. For me, the highlight was seeing how the people embraced the music, soaking in every ounce like a thirsty camel. I-Wayne surely delivered 100 per cent,” Francis told the Jamaica Observer.
Held at 3B Port Royal Street by the Caribbean Queen boat on the Waterfront, the event also featured high-powered performances from Jahbar-I and the Firehouse Crew Band and 5 Star Celestial.
“All the artistes were well-received, even the young opening acts Jah B and Adissa got a warm welcome from the crowd. [The band] 5 Star Celestial delivered an excellent set and Jahbar-I was full of energy,” said Francis.
Asked if his objectives of putting on the series were met, Francis said, “Definitely. The people came out and showed their support and got their bellyful and their souls fully recharged. We had a full house and all the tables were full plus standing room as well.”
Bunny’s Live Band Fridays is held on the last Friday of each month. The next staging is scheduled for July 29.
Said Francis, “We haven’t completed the line-up of performers as yet, but it will be a night of quality food and good entertainment.”
