Lorna Da'Angel creates a buzzTuesday, June 08, 2021
Producer Lorna Da'Angel is determined to make her mark in the male-dominated music industry.
“Men dominate the Jamaican music industry in every way, but I'm not put off by that. I believe that I can be as successful as any of my male colleagues. The time has come for more women to get into the production side of the business,” she said.
She continued, “I come from a musical background; my older brother Cliff Bramwell, who's now deceased, was Dennis Brown's manager for many years. I learnt a lot from him about the music business. I also have a lot of experience as a promoter and booking agent. Through my company Miles Ahead Entertainment, I've promoted several successful events in the UK over the years, and I'm also one of the top booking agents in the UK.”
Da'Angel made her production debut in October last year with the eight-song Atlantic Buzz, a various artistes set. Atlantic Buzz is available on all leading digital platforms, including iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon.
The album features seasoned campaigners, including Little Lenny, Little Kirk, and Ras Charmer alongside several promising artistes, such as Chad Amor, Dertee, I-Simeon, Kyng Prynse, Selah Wayne, Greg Blaze, and Thesarus.
“This is my first project, and I am very proud of it. It's doing well in the UK and it's also picking up in other territories. I'm grateful to everyone who helped to make the project possible, including all the artistes, my publishing administrator Cally Furcal, my mixing engineer Granny Bwoy and my sons Lamoy “DJ Docta Flex” Comrie and Cemry Wilson,” said Lorna Da'Angel.
A music video for Same Whine by Little Lenny and Little Kirk was released two weeks ago.
