‘Toni-Ann’ puts Popcaan on Afrobeats chart
FOR the first time since its launch almost four months ago, a Jamaican artiste has been featured on the US Afrobeats Songs chart.
Toni-Ann Singh by Afrobeats artiste Burna Boy featuring dancehall artiste Popcaan enters the chart at number 12. It is one of 23 songs on the chart for Burna Boy.
The chart is measured from leading audio and video music services, plus download sales from top music retailers.
Toni-Ann Singh, inspired by former Miss Jamaica and Miss World Toni-Ann Singh, is featured on Burna Boy’s fourth major label release Love, Damani. The album was released by Atlantic Records, debuts at number two on the US World Albums chart, 14 on the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart, two on the UK Albums and six in Canada, Norway and Switzerland.
On the streaming and sales-driven Billboard Reggae Albums chart, Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers remains on top for 132nd week.
Sean Paul’s Dutty Classics Collection is steady in the number two position, while Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy re-enters at number three.
World on Fire and Set in Stone by Stick Figure are four and five, respectively, while UB40’s Labour of Love re-enters at number six.
Gifted by Koffee is firm at seven, Exodus by Bob Marley and the Wailers rises to eight, while Burial Ground by Stick Figure and Time Bomb by Iration are nine and 10, respectively.
On the South Florida Reggae chart, So I Can Love You by Novel-T is the new number one, while Save the Children by Hezron dashes from 25 to 21.
New entry at 23 is Ain’t No Love in the Heart of the City by Ambelique, while Peace of Mind is a Holiday by G Cole jumps in at 25.
On the Foundation Radio Network (New York) Reggae chart, Diamonds in the Sun by Tanya Stephens, Cedella Marley and Diana King is number one.
Making moves this week are Ricky General’s Ten Million which moves from 10 to eight; Collie Weed by The ATF Band which hops from 14 to 12, and Richie Stephens’s Reverse the Curse which steps up from 22 to 14.
New entries are Don’t Do It by Hopeton Lindo, Marcia Griffiths and Freddie McGregor (number 26); Kingston Traffic by Naomi Cowan (number 27); Groovin by Winston Francis (number 29); and Righteous People by Wayne Armond (30).
