Nella’s Cassava Pancake and Waffle Mix

Nella’s Cassava Pancake & Waffle Mix: Rethinking traditional foods.

An innovative Jamaican take on a breakfast favourite. A specially created blend of Jamaican cassava flour crafted into a ready-to-use, easy-to-make, and resealable packaged pancake and waffle mix, rich in fibre and Vitamin C. Just add milk and eggs.

    Nella’s Chocolate Cake & Muffin Mix (Gluten-Free | Dairy-Free):

For all pastry and cake lovers, especially those who would like to indulge but are allergic to gluten and dairy. It is a specially created blend of Jamaican cassava flour and Jamaican cocoa powder crafted into a ready-to-use, easy-to-make, and resealable packaged cake and muffin mix, rich in fibre and Vitamin C.

Enjoy an easy-to-make, at home pastry treat or get creative and add soaked fruits to make your gluten free version of a Jamaican Christmas Fruit Cake. It can be enjoyed as is, out of the pack, or create your own version by adding soaked fruits and more to it.

100 per cent gluten-free and dairy. No additives or preservatives. Just add water and eggs.

    Inspiration behind the products:

The inspiration behind all of our products is taken from our company’s mantra “Rethinking Food!” By this we mean we are innovators of wholesome and healthy foods created by rethinking traditional foods and reimagining them into healthier options for consumers, using indigenous Caribbean ingredients.

    Products are available at:

    All major retail chains islandwide.

Both products are… just now being rolled out to the market in the second quarter (Q2) of 2024. Our mandate as a growing company is to bring to market in 2024 at minimum three new products per quarter. This is with an aim of having 12 available products in total by the end of year 2024.

This will also satisfy our own internal business and brand strategy as it relates to increasing our growing brand awareness by providing an array of product offerings to the consumer. Currently, we have six existing products on shop shelves islandwide.

    Manufacturing challenges:

Our challenges, when they do occur from time to time, are primarily market-related. Such challenges include: seasonality, weather conditions, price movements and general supply availability.

Luckily, based on our size and agility we have been able to respond quickly whenever these challenges arise. Our ability to quickly pivot and create opportunities is what allows us to keep innovating and creating other products and opportunities in those gap moments.

    Five-year product goal:

Whilst there is no way to predict the future, our general product and company’s ambitions are firmly rooted on becoming the market-leading food brand as it relates to innovating and manufacturing super value-added food products from our indigenous food crops for consumers.

At some point we would like to be able to look back and say Nella’s Foods are the pioneers of creating sustainable, commercially available , and healthier food products that use at least 50 per cent of local ingredients in its manufacturing.

That in of itself should have a social impact on:

    1. Reducing our dependence on similar imported food products and/or ingredients.

    2. Improving the quality of Jamaican lives, by addressing their dietary needs (ie providing them with more fibre-rich food products, more nutrient-and mineral-rich food products etc) but in a fun way.
