    A Taste of Ahmeraki Café

Tucked away at the edges of the hustle and bustle of Manor Park on the grounds of Constant Spring Golf Club, the Ahmeraki Café (est May/June 2024) brings creativity and comfort together, offering diners an artsy escape matched by delicious meals.

Having frequented Ahmeraki dozens of times for my early morning routine of jogging and walking at the golf club, often stopping in for a hot beverage or refreshing cold coconut water, I was eager to introduce my wife, Kerri-Anne, to this charming spot.

The café’s décor — an eclectic blend of colourful murals and tasteful accents — creates a vibrant yet cosy atmosphere, immediately setting the tone for a delightful dining experience.

My lunch choice, the Ahmeraki Smash Burger ($2,800), was superbly satisfying. Two expertly seasoned beef patties smashed on a griddle, topped with caramelised onions, melted cheese, crunchy pickles, and their signature house sauce, all embraced by a fresh bun. The team suggested that I add a fried egg and some bacon – and WOW! Accompanied by crispy fries, it struck a perfect balance of flavours and textures.

Wifey selected the Chicken Club Sandwich ($2,300), an elevated classic featuring tender roasted chicken, juicy tomato slices, fresh crisp lettuce, smoky bacon, and flavourful Emmental cheese, artfully layered between slices of fresh bread. She praised the sandwich, not only for its freshness and harmonious blend of ingredients, but for the fact that it stuck to the script – “They made this classic exactly according to world standards,” she said.

Ahmeraki, cleverly named using the initials “AH” from the three daughters of the Hutton family combined with the Greek word “Meraki” — meaning doing something with soul, creativity, or love — is indeed a welcome new gem on Kingston’s dining landscape.
