Roast By Toast, A Must-Visit Mandeville Eatery

Tucked away in the heart of Mandeville’s Central Plaza, Roast by Toast is quickly carving out its place as a must-visit gem for locals and visitors alike. Whether you’re passing through and craving something more exciting than fast food or simply seeking a cosy spot to unwind, this bistro delivers on all fronts. The décor strikes a perfect balance between modern elegance and inviting warmth, with a swing at the entrance that beckons patrons to pause, relax, and savour the moment.

Upon stepping inside, guests are welcomed by the friendly staff, like Roshane Coley, who served me during my visit. The calming ambiance, with its soft lighting and natural wood accents, sets the tone for a serene dining experience. For those who prefer the outdoors, the terrace offers shade umbrellas and fresh air — a delightful alternative for enjoying your meal.

Roast by Toast’s menu is a testament to diversity, catering to a wide range of tastes. From wholesome breakfast options to mouth-watering lunch selections, every dish is thoughtfully crafted using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Coffee lovers will revel in the brewed beverages, matcha, and chai lattes that celebrate Jamaica’s rich coffee heritage. For those looking for something lighter, there’s an array of sodas, juices, and my personal favourite — a refreshing lemonade.

Feeling adventurous, I decided to sample a variety of offerings. My feast included the “Mi Granny Salad,” “Chicken Tacos,” “Lemon Pepper Wings,” “Smash Burger,” Pesto Chicken Wrap, and Teriyaki Chicken Bowl — all topped off with an ice-cold lemonade. Each dish brought its own unique flair, showcasing the bistro’s commitment to quality and flavour.

The staff at Roast by Toast are known for their attentive and personable service, a sentiment echoed by a repeat guest I chatted with during my visit. Their menu knowledge and willingness to accommodate special requests added a personal touch to my experience, making me feel genuinely cared for.

Owners Matthew Jones and Jason Whyte have done an exceptional job establishing Roast by Toast as a standout on Mandeville’s dining scene. Whether you’re looking for a cosy spot to enjoy your morning coffee, a convenient venue for a quick meeting, or simply a leisurely lunch like mine, this bistro is the perfect choice, just off Caledonia’s main road. Roast by Toast is undoubtedly poised to become a cherished staple in the community since opening its doors earlier this year.
