And The Chairman’s Award Goes To…

Coldfield Manufacturing Ltd (CML) was founded in 1990 by Ian and Brenda Wong (2nd generation beverage manufacturers) with a bold NEW vision: To produce and distribute boxed and bagged juices across Jamaica. Operating from facilities in Kingston and Montego Bay, they launched their first products under the now iconic Big Jo brand — delivered by a fleet of vans that reached even the most remote corners of the island. With its vibrant character and far-reaching presence, Big Jo quickly became a beloved Jamaican staple.

Thirty-five years later, CML remains a proud family-led enterprise. Brett Wong, as managing director, and Jordan Wong, as director of sales, now lead the company with energy and purpose, while Ian and Brenda continue to play active roles. Together, they are driving CML into a bold new era of growth and innovation.

CML has steadily expanded its product line and reach, building a reputation for reliability and quality. Its Country Style juices are now fixtures in patty shops, restaurants, and cafeterias islandwide. The company’s early mastery of direct-to-consumer sales laid the foundation for its strong presence in supermarkets and retail outlets.

In 2010, CML raised the bar with the launch of its premium Pure Country juice line. Celebrated for exceptional taste and quality, Pure Country quickly gained traction in retail and hospitality. It now stands as Jamaica’s largest no-sugar-added premium juice family, offering 13 flavours that reflect the island’s bold, natural spirit.

In 2024, CML partnered with a vertically integrated, eco-friendly agribusiness in Belize to introduce 100 per cent natural coconut water and cold-pressed juices under the Pure Country label. Within a year, Pure Country Coconut Water became Jamaica’s #1 brand, admired for its pink hue, refreshing taste, and consistent excellence.

“From inception,” shares Ian Wong, “we have been committed to national development, social responsibility, and supporting local communities. CML has supported numerous school projects and fund-raisers across the island, and the Jamaica Constabulary Force development programmes at divisional and national levels. We have also been involved with various charities like Missionaries of the Poor, Mustard Seed Communities, and the Marie Atkins Shelter to assist in feeding programmes for the less fortunate.”

“With a legacy built on quality, a passion for progress, and an expanding global vision, CML is now poised to share the taste of Jamaica with the world — delivering beverages that embody the island’s richness and resilience, just as it has done for over three decades.

“Some things become more than just products — they become part of a nation’s story… For over 30 years, our family has poured heart, soul, and pure Jamaican pride into every bottle. When I walk through the factory today I don’t just see machines — I see memories, milestones, and the future in my sons. They’ve taken up the mantle with vision and fire, honouring our roots while pushing us forward. That, to me, is the true legacy — not just what we’ve built, but who we’ve become while building it,” concludes Ian Wong
