Rubyistheone makes a welcome return after knee surgery
RUBYISTHEONE, following successful knee surgery and being out for seven months, returned to competitive racing in Division 1 of a native-bred, three-year-old Maiden Condition event going four furlongs (800m) on Saturday, July 30, 2022.
Trained by Anthony Nunes and ridden by Tevin Foster, Rubyistheone came from off the pace to win the contest going away by a length and three quarters in a time of 48.0 seconds flat for the distance.
It wasn’t the best of starts for Rubyistheone as she trailed Rambling Rose (Oshane Nugent), Dujour (Anthony Thoams), and Sarge in Charge (Akeem Grant), who prompted the early pace.
Crossing the dummy rails, Dujour took full command of the race ahead of Rambling Rose, but once Rubyistheone got in her groove the race was over as he sprouted wings and flew away from rivals to win without any fuss. Dujour was second and Rambling Rose third.
Rubyistheone is bred by Natural Selection out of the Blue Pepsi Lodge mare Come Dance With Me.
“Yes, it was a good ride because she [Rubyistheone] missed the break and he [Tevin Foster] took his time with her, having not raced in seven months and coming off serious knee surgery.
“I was pleased with how he (Foster) took care of her and then if she was willing to respond at the quarter, and she did and that was nice. Tevin did a really good job with her,” Nunes told The Supreme Racing Guide.
As to the plans for Rubyistheone, Nuns said “It is good to see how she came back and won, and the key is obviously how she comes out of the race as far as her future goes.”
