128 new COVID cases, no deaths reported
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Health and Wellness reported 128 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, August 17, bringing the infection total to 148,450.
The new cases comprise 84 females and 44 males, with ages ranging from two months to 101 years.
The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (55), St Catherine (35), Portland (12), Clarendon (six), St James (five), St Thomas (four), St Ann (three), Manchester (three), Westmoreland (two), Hanover (two) and St Elizabeth (one).
No deaths were recorded for the period.
There were 103 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 95,401.
Currently, 121 people are hospitalised, 14 of whom are moderately ill, and five severely ill and one in critical condition.
Jamaica’s positivity rate for the latest round of testing is 22.6 per cent.
