4-y-o Grenadian boy’s body reportedly found in septic tank
ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, (CMC) – The Grenadian police are investigating the death of a four-year-old boy whose body was reportedly found in a septic tank.
The police said in a statement that preliminary information revealed that Sharmon Gibbs of Mount Carmel, St Andrew, was left unsupervised by a parent and upon their return, the child was missing.
An extensive search was conducted in the surrounding areas.
The boy was later found unresponsive, floating in a septic tank, which had an opening at the top.
He was immediately taken to the Princess Alice Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“…The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation and our officers are working diligently to gather all relevant information,” the police said, assuring that “a thorough and impartial investigation to determine the facts surrounding this unfortunate incident will be conducted.”
“An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” the statement said, using the occasion to “urge each of you to be extra vigilant and cautious, especially during this festive time of year”.
