All Jamaican court proceedings are now in the name of King/Rex – Chief Justice
KINGSTON, Jamaica – In light of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, September 8, the Chief Justice of Jamaica has directed that as of now, all court proceedings usually issued in the name of the Queen/Regina must now be issued in the name of King/Rex.
In addition, all oaths and court documents referring to Queen/Regina must now refer to the King/Rex.
Meanwhile, a tweet from the Minister of Legal & Constitutional Affairs of Jamaica and former Attorney General, Marlene Malahoo Forte, said that King Charles III is now the Head of State of Jamaica. All Queen’s Counsel must now be referred to as King’s Counsel.
