Bed Bath & Beyond executive jumped to his death from NY high-rise, law enforcement says
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The man who jumped to his death from a high-rise apartment in Manhattan has been identified by the New York City Police Department as Gustavo Arnal.
According to an article from CNN, a law enforcement source said Arnal is the chief financial officer of company, Bed Bath & Beyond. They said he died after jumping from the 18th floor balcony of his high-rise apartment.
CNN said the NYPD’s statement on Sunday disclosed that Arnal, 52, was found unconscious and unresponsive outside his luxury 57-story skyscraper in the neighbourhood of Tribeca around 12:30 pm Friday. The police also shared that while no suicide note was found, no criminality is suspected. CNN also reported that according to police, Arnal’s wife witnessed him jump.
The NYPD said the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death and the investigation remains ongoing.
It was reported earlier this week that Bed Bath & Beyond was trying to save itself from bankruptcy and is getting ready to lay off approximately 20 per cent of its employees. It was also reported that the company would be closing 150 stores across the US.
