#Champs2023: Edwin Allen's Williams win javelin Open after placing fifth last year

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Edwin Allen High’s Sheniela Williams improved on her fifth place from last year to win the Girls' Open javelin title on Thursday’s third day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys" and Girls' Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.

Williams, who threw 36.40m last year, won with 42.40m, an improvement of six metres, to beat Hydel High’s Natassia Burrel who took the silver medal with 41.82m, after she was ninth last year by less than a metre and failed to score a point.

Zoelle Jamel of Immaculate Conception was third with 39.70m, while Cedricka Williams who smashed the Class 1 discus throw record on Wednesday night, was sixth with 36.69m, falling two spots from fourth place last year when she threw 36.97m.
