Cops counsel students after killing at school gate
ST ANDREW, Jamaica – The St Andrew South police have been counselling students at the Czar’s Group of Schools following the killing of a deliveryman and the injuring of a teacher, both employed by the institution.
Operations Officer, Superintendent Damion Manderson, said the division’s Community Safety and Security (CSS) branch along with the management team, have been visiting the school to speak with students.
The division’s management team is headed by Senior Superintendent, Kirk Ricketts.
“The CSS has been there, I also went and spoke to children and staff one on one,” Supt Manderson said. “These visits will continue.”
Sanjay Wilson, 34, from Olympic Avenue, Kingston 11, was killed and the teacher admitted to hospital following the incident, which occurred at the gates of the Bay Farm Road institution.

Police believed the attack stemmed from an ongoing feud between men from nearby communities. They said Wilson was the target of the gunmen.
Superintendent Manderson said the police had increased their patrols and community engagement near the school and surrounding communities to deter further incidents.
“We will continue to work with the communities to create better spaces,” he said.
