Driver pinned under truck in Portland
PORTLAND, Jamaica— A hardware delivery truck driver is pinned under the vehicle in Cooper’s Hill, Portland after the truck went down a ravine about 4pm Tuesday. The man is feared dead.
Observer Online understands that the driver and two sidemen were carrying material in the truck to be delivered at Dumphries when, upon reaching a section of the road at Cooper’s Hill, there was a breakaway. The two sidemen came off and the driver proceeded, but the back wheel of the truck reportedly slipped at the breakaway and the truck went down the ravine about 100 hundred metres, pinning the driver below.
Help was sought and the fire service responded, but due to the time of the evening and the nature of the ravine, the driver was not recovered nor the truck removed. It is understood that an emergency team will return Wednesday morning to complete the process.
