End of the road for Bicknell, Phillips in Pan Am tennis doubles
SANTIAGO, Chile – Jamaica’s tennis campaign at the Pan American Games is now over.
It’s duo of Blaise Bicknell and Rowland “Randy” Phillips went down in straight sets to Brazil’s Gustavo Heidi and Marcelo Demoliner in their men’s doubles tennis quarter-final match on Thursday night.
The Brazilians were comfortable winners, by a scoreline of 6-2, 6-3, advancing to the semi-final.
Bicknell and Phillips told the Observer Online after the game that they were not as sharp as they needed to be in the game.
But they say they saw the overall experience as valuable because of the level of opponents they came up against.
Jamaica has a single medal so far at the Games, a bronze from cyclist Dahlia Palmer in the women’s Keirin final on Wednesday.
