Firearm and ammunition seized in Westmoreland

WESTMORELAND, Jamaica— A team of officers assigned to the Westmoreland Police Division seized one 9mm Beretta pistol with a magazine containing five rounds of ammunition during an operation on Great George Street, Savanna-la-Mar, in the parish on Sunday, August 7.

Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar Police are that about 11:30 pm, lawmen were on patrol in the market area when they saw a man acting in a manner that aroused their suspicion.

On the approach of the police, the man dropped a bag and ran. The bag was retrieved and found to contain the firearm.

No one was arrested in relation to this seizure.
