Five schools qualify in all boys 4x100m relays at Gibson/McCook
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Five schools have qualified for the finals in all four high school boys 4x100m relays at the 46th staging of the Gibson/McCook Relays after Saturday morning’s preliminaries at the National Stadium.
Jamaica College, Kingston College, St Jago High, Herbert Morrison Technical and St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) have advanced to the finals to be contested in the afternoon session after finishing in the top eight in the preliminaries.
STETHS led the Class 1 qualifiers with 40.23 seconds ahead of Jamaica College who ran 40.75 seconds and Kingston College with 40.84 seconds.
Camperdown High also advanced to the final with 41.19 seconds, the same time as Edwin Allen High, Wolmer’s Boys’ were next fastest with 41.47 seconds, Herbert Morrison with 41.48 seconds and St Jago- 41.49 seconds.
Jamaica College were the only school under 42.00 seconds in the Class 2 qualifying, running 41.96 seconds, followed by Calabar High- 42.00 seconds, Kingston College- 42.46 seconds, Excelsior- 42.80 seconds, St Jago- 43.28 seconds, William Knibb Memorial- 43.28 seconds, STETHS- 43.31 seconds and Herbert Morrison Technical- 43.61 seconds.
Kingston College leads the Class 3 qualifiers after running 43.60 seconds with St Jago High next best with 43.66 seconds and Wolmers Boys- 43.96 seconds.
Calabar clocked 44.27 seconds, Jamaica College- 44.81 seconds, Holmwood Technical- 45.50 seconds, Herbert Morrison Technical 45.51seconds and STETHS- 46.00 seconds also advanced.
Jamaica College led in Class 4 with 46.04 seconds, with St Jago- 46.71 seconds, Kingston College- 46.81 seconds, Calabar High- 46.84 seconds, St George’s College- 47.76 seconds, Excelsior High- 48.26 seconds, Herbert Morrison Technical 48.29 seconds and STETHS- 48.75 seconds, completing the field.
