Glenmuir, Rusea's and Knox win third straight in d'Cup

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Glenmuir High, Rusea’s High and Knox College joined Annotto Bay High on three straight wins in the ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup after victories on Tuesday’s set of matches.

Glenmuir High smashed Porus High 16-0, Rusea’s High were 5-0 winners over Merlene Ottey High and Knox College edged Christiana High 2-1 as they all rushed to nine points and are leading their respective zones.

Derrick Henry and Tajaun Cummings both scored hat-trick for Glenmuir as Porus have now conceded 34 goals in just two games after they lost 18-0 to Denbigh High last week.

Denbigh High won their second straight, blanking Central High 5-0 as last year’s beaten finalists have now lost back -to- back games to start the season.

Rusea’s followed by 6-1 and 1-0 wins over Cambridge High and Green Island respectively while Knox College,who returned after a two years lay off, had won their previous games 1-0 and 2-1.

In Zone A, Cornwall College came from a goal down at half time to beat Green Pond High 3-1, while Maldon High won back-to-back games, edging Spot Valley High 4-3.

Daville Williams headed Green Pond into the lead in the third minute but Cornwall responded in the second half with goals from Dane Buckly, Dante Escoffery and Trimane Bradshaw.

Nickoy Stewart, Kenrick Thorpe, Leonardo Crossbourne all scored for Maldon High after they took the lead through an own goal.

Green Island got their first win of the season, blanking Cambridge High 6-0 while there were 3-0 wins for St Mary Technical, Enid Bennett and Black River High over Iona High, Ewarton High ad Grange Hill respectively.
