Human trafficking and murder suspects among 20 detained in Mandeville operations
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A total of 20 people were taken into police custody following raids, including a predawn operation in Mandeville, in search of human trafficking, shooting and murder suspects on Thursday.
A police source told OBSERVER ONLINE that about 5:00 am, a team comprising the Mandeville police, Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Branch (CTOC) and the Passport Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) swooped down on a location in Balvenie on the outskirts of Mandeville where 12 people were taken into custody.
The source said the authorities arrested the individuals in relation to an alleged human trafficking operation.
Hours later at about 8:30 am police raided an apartment on Rosedale Drive where eight people including two men listed as persons of interest for murders and shooting incidents in Clarendon were arrested. A woman is among those detained.
Police are also searching for a group of men who ran from the apartment.
