TEXAS, United States - It was a Jamaican 1-2-3 in the men's Division 1 long jump event at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Austin, Texas on Wednesday as Carey McLeod nabbed the win with a leap of 8.26m.
McLeod's 8.26m jump equalled the facility record set by Steffin McCarter of Texas in 2021.
His teammate from the University of Arkansas, Wayne Pinnock (formerly of Kingston College) finished second with a mark of 8.15m while another Jamaican, Jordan Turner of the University of Kentucky finished third with an 8.13m leap.
McLeod is the sixth Razorback to win a NCAA Outdoor long jump while Pinnock won the program’s sixth silver medal.
