At halftime, Jamaica's senior Reggae Girlz trail Canada 0-1 in the first of two Olympic qualifiers now underway at the National Stadium.

From the opening whistle, both teams went on the offensive in search of the game's first goal. But it was the Canadians who scored first when Nichelle Prince pounced onto a stray ball and easily past Jamaican goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer in the 18th minute.

The Reggae Girlz attempted to regain control with a couple of scoring chances, but the attackers were unable to capitalise.

The Jamaicans are striving to become the first Caribbean country to qualify for Olympic women's football.
