Jamaica’s Nkrumie equals national U-20 record to qualify for World 100m final
CALI, Colombia – Jamaica’s Bouwahjgie Nkrumie equalled the national junior record of 10.11 seconds (-0.4m/s) in the men’s 100 metre to qualify for today’s final of the event at the World Under-20 Championships at the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium in Cali, Colombia.
Nkrumie, who won his semi-final, equalled the record held jointly by Yohan Blake set at the CARIFTA Games in Turks and Caicos in 2007 and Christopher Taylor set in June 2018 in Kingston.
Nkrumie lowered his personal best from 10.22 seconds set earlier this year in June, and will be the only Jamaican in the final after Sandrey Davison seem to have suffered an injury as he crashed to the track after about 30 metres in his semi-finals.
Nkrumie’s time was the second fastest in the semi-finals as all eight men went under 10.30 seconds, including defending champion and world Under-20 record holder Letsile Tebogo, who ‘jogged’ 10.14 seconds.
