JFF Championship playoff winner to be decided Sunday
The champions of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Championship playoffs will be crowned on Sunday as Gray’s Inn FC of St Mary and Petersfield FC of Westmoreland clash in the final at the UWI-JFF Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence in Kingston.
Match time is 3:30pm.
Both finalists won their semi-finals last week end on penalty-kicks and will take unbeaten records into the final.
Before the final, the third qualifier that will be promoted to the Championships later this season will be decided when beaten semi-finalists St Bess United of St Elizabeth and Seaforth FC of St Thomas meet in the third place play-off.
The three teams promoted to the Championship will replacing Treasure Beach FC and Lime Hall Academy who were promoted to the Jamaica Premier League, and Albion Mountain FC who were kicked out of the Championship last season after they failed to honour a home fixture.
With Gray’s Inn FC and Petersfield FC already sure to be promoted, there is a possibility of a more open game than last weekend where both semi-final games went to penalties.
Both teams had displayed attacking football in the first round with Petersfield FC scoring 15 goals in their six first round games while Gray’s Inn had scored 12 in their four games.
The third place game will have a lot riding on the result with a place in the Championships at stake, and both teams will be expected to be at their best.
