National Trials: Briana out of women’s 200m
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Briana Williams has withdrawn from the women’s 200m due to start Saturday at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association’s (JAAA) National Championships at the National Stadium.
Williams’ coach Ato Boldon confirmed the report and said she would be undergoing a precautionary “MRI on her knee” but insisted that it was “nothing major.”
Williams was scheduled to contest the first heat in the semi-finals where she would have lined up against Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah, Krystal Sloley and Remona Burchell.
Williams, the Olympic Games relay gold medallist, was fourth in the women’s 100m final on Friday night, running a personal best 10.94 seconds (0.9m/s).
Shericka Jackson won with a season’s best 10.77 seconds, ahead of Kemba Nelson who ran a personal best 10.88 seconds and Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah who was third in 10.89 seconds.
