Dancehall artiste Quada who is featured on the soundtrack in a collaboration titled Billions with Popcaan, was upbeat when he learnt of the certification.
“This is definitely a great feeling u nuh, being a part of this project. I’m honoured to have been selected to be a part of this huge project. It’s a joy, it’s a blessing you naw mean,” he disclosed in an interview with OBSERVER ONLINE.
The project also features songs by Headie One, Giggs, Youngs Teflon, AJ Tracey, Drake and Nafe Smallz. The soundtrack accompanied the release of Top Boy, an acclaimed British television crime drama series which aired in the United Kingdom on Channel 4 and in the United States on Netflix.
Jamaican actor Micheal Ward plays the role of Jamie Tovell in the series.
“Shout out to Popcaan, he had an idea and he referred it to me and say yow, I want you to be a part of this song. At first, I didn’t even know the magnitude or the success the project was going to be, but it showed that when you listen, and you have humbleness, it can take you a long way. It was really an idea he brought to life and I just put my part on it and that’s how we came about with the song Billions,” said Quada.
The deejay, who is known for songs including Celebration and New Gyal Alert, says he has new music on the way including collaborations with international artistes as well as an album.
“I want my fans to stay tuned for some new music. We are taking it to the next level. Some big international collaborations, a fusion of afrobeats, reggae and dancehall. It’s one for Jamaica and one for the culture,” he added.
