Shanieka Ricketts leaps to third place finish in Diamond League triple jump final
Freshly minted 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games champion Shanieka Ricketts had to settle for a third-place finish in the final of the women’s triple jump at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Zurich, Switzerland on Thursday.
The multiple-time national champion, Ricketts, who has a personal best mark of 14.98 metres and is ranked number two in the world this year, produced the best jump of 14.85 metres in the fourth round.
Meanwhile, the Diamond League trophy was won by the world record holder, Yulimar Rojas of Venezuela, who recorded a massive jump of 15.28 metres in her second attempt.
Maryna Bekh-Romanchul of Ukraine secured the runner-up spot with a fourth-round jump of 14.96 metres.
