ST THOMAS, Jamaica - A 35-year-old St Thomas man has been charged with assault with intent to rape and possession of prohibited weapon following an incident in the parish on Monday, January 2, 2023.
Charged is Ricardo Gray, otherwise ‘Ricky,’ construction worker of Winchester district, Golden Grove in the parish .
Reports are that Gray offered to assist a woman with an electricity outage. He then brandished a firearm, held on to the complainant’s neck and demanded sex. She managed to wrestle from his hold, raised an alarm and was assisted by members of her community.
Gray was arrested following a police operation and was charged after he was positively identified by the woman.
His court date is being finalised.
